Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 collection

Karl Lagerfeld continues to surprise us in the collection for Chanel, at the Paris Spring/Summer 2010 Haute Couture season.  The traditional Chanel suit, was revamped, the slim A-line skirt being replaced by shorts, and trimmed by delicate lace. The pastel tweeds had lost their classic braid trimmings and were piped with silver, to match the silver leather half-gloves (an ode to k.lagerfeld himself- and the silver shoe-boots with carved heels and pearl trimmed soles.

Karl referred to the collection as "neon baroque" an assortment of acid yellow, candy pink and flourescent lime shades which look like frosting on a cupcake, pastels, champagne and cream, and an slither of black in a tie, embellished with a fantastic crystal brooch which is displayed on a sophisicated, white silk, column evening gown.

My favorite piece of the collection was the bridal gown with an jewelled bodice and sleeves. The ruffled cloud confection of the train was utterly breathtaking.  Anna Wintour, sat front row, including Claudia Schiffer; Kanye West and his girlfriend, Amber Rose, who was wear a hooded gold Chanel Catsuit; and the 13 year old fashion blogger, Tavi Gevinson, with her gray hair wearing a pill-box hat.
